A Massive Amount of Energy Available Seawater is abundant on the earth; thus, the source of OTEC is almost unlimited. 3. Stable Supply of Energy Electricity generated by solar and wind power is highly dependent on weather conditions; on the other hand, OTEC secures stable energy supplies throughout the year due to the fact that the seasonal change of temperature in deep and surface seawater is small. 4. Contribution to the Solution of Environmental Problems OTEC facilities do not discharge any CO2; moreover, the deep seawater helps grow phytoplankton, algae and coral, which could lead to increase in CO2 fixation.
