On 5th July there was held a Shinto ceremony at the construction site to pray for safety of construction works of IOES (short for Institute of Ocean Energy, Saga University). The facility will consist of two major buildings of laboratory and research respectively at the total cost of US$34 million and shall be the future core research facilities of OTEC technology, which produces abundant new energy in clean and renewal form. The construction is scheduled to be completed by March 2003.
