Saga University's OTEC technology for Palau electricity network
[Brief translation]
Palau made it known that they would abolish by 2015 whole of the current network of diesel power generation and deploy instead OTEC power network. President Remengesau Jr. is expected to announce his new policy at the coming Forum on Desalination by Renewable Energy to be held in the capital Korol for two days of Oct. 15 and 16. According to the provided information the first OTEC power plant should be put up in 2005 with 3, 000 kW capacity and then, 6 more installations should follow by 2015. These 7 OTEC plants altogether would be generating 30,000 kW, exceeding the total capacity of the existing diesel power system by 10,000 kW. Saga University, who has the most advanced OTEC technology in the world, is going to extend technical assistance to the Palau project team.
