Palau to acquire future electric from the ocean
[Brief translation]
Installation planning of OTEC power plants is under way in this island nation in the South Pacific Ocean. As is known well, OTEC technology generates power from seawater alone without involving fossil fuel and thus spills no CO2, a main culprit substance behind the global warming. OTEC power, an ideal earth-friendly energy vitally needed for mankind. Republic of Palau had signed in 2001 a technical collaboration agreement with Saga University, Japan, the front-runner in the world of OTEC study. The plan is said to construct OTEC power plants at 7 different locations in Palau by 2015, generating 30,000 kW in total. The longstanding and storehouse efforts of Saga University is about to blossom.
