Japan leads power generation from the ocean
[Brief translation]
To acquire energy endlessly from sea. Such a dreamlike technology has finally come to the last stage for commercial use. This refers to OTEC technology, which generates electric power using warm surface seawater and deep cold seawater. Based on the Japanese OTEC technology a pilot project by Indian government is about to start experimental operation there. The OTEC technology extends its usefulness not only in power generation but also in creating new industry such as aquaculture and fresh water production etc. Many nations in the Asia Pacific regions are keenly watching for the introduction of this technology.
