Saudi Arabia is reportedly going to build OTEC power plants and desalination system with utilization of the technology studied by Saga University. High ranking officials from Saudi Arabia discussed in detail about the implementation plan with Dr. Haruo Uehara, President of Saga University on March 18. This will be the second introduction for Saga University's OTEC technology to be implemented abroad. It is expected that the Saudi project would help promote propagation of OTEC technology.
