Accomplishment of the Leading R&D Center, Saga University: Power Generation by Using Temperature Differences with Cold Deep Water
[Brief translation]
Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion power generation is one of next generation systems with no use of fossil fuels, which Saga University has studied since 1973. This system has been brought a keen interest from many countries including India, tropical and sub-tropical zones In 1997 Saga University signed a technical collaboration agreement with NIOT or National Institute of Ocean Technology, Chennai, India on OTEC system. The NIOT project, which is an on-board application of OTEC power system, has just started its experimental power generation off Chennai coast. Institute of Ocean Energy, Saga University or IOES, R&D center for ocean-related technology was just completed in Imari City, Japan. The cutting-edge research center has been raised high expectations.
