Xenesys exhibited our OTEC system at SIDS 2005 in Mauritius (the United Nations conference for Small Island Developing States) held on January 10-14, 2005.
Professor Haruo Uehara of the Institute of Ocean Energy, Saga University (and former president of the university) was invited to attend by the government of Mauritius. Xenesys, which has been working with Saga University to jointly develop OTEC systems, also participated, and with arrangements made by the United Nations, we set up an OTEC booth featuring a miniature OTEC system that we used to give demonstrations.
We received questions from a great many visitors to the booth, among them many important visitors, including: United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Assistant to the Japanese Prime Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi, local ministerial officials, the Prime Minister of Jamaica, and the President of Nauru.
The exhibition was given extensive coverage in local newspapers.
