[Brief translation]
Fuji Oil Co., Ltd. introduced a new power generation system into Sodegaura Oil Refinery to make effective use of warm exhaust heat. Warm exhaust heat used to be dumped into the atmosphere, but the new system uses the relatively low-temperature heat to vaporize ammonia liquid and generates electricity from the processes. Capital investments in introduction of the system amounted to 1.9 billion yen. Energy consumption can be cut by 5,600 kiloliters of oil equivalent per year, and CO2 emissions are expected to be decreased by 15,000 tons annually, which is equivalent to 1% of the total CO2 emissions at the oil refinery. Introducing the new system allows the company to promote energy conservation activities. The company is intending to advance measures to cut energy use and decrease CO2 emissions following an increase in crude oil prices.
