Completion of "Feasibility Study on Water Production and Electric Power Generation by Discharged Thermal Energy Conversion Technology with Waste Heat Project for Refinery in Kuwait."
In the FY2005's "Research Projects on Oil and Natural Gas Resources Development Assistance and Rationalization of Energy Use" commissioned by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Xenesys Inc.'s proposal of "Feasibility Study on Water Production and Electric Power Generation by Discharged Thermal Energy Conversion Technology with Waste Heat Project for Refinery in Kuwait" was adopted and entrusted by JETRO and completed on March 20, 2006, as scheduled.
This research is to study the feasibility of "Water Production and Electric Power Generation", which uses waste heat from process gas cooling facilities in existing oil refineries of KNPC. Introducing above system to the existing oil refinery will contribute to the efficient use of energy, as waste heat is used to generate electricity and produce water, and the power which is currently consumed at the fans in the cooling facilities will be reduced simultaneously.
Furthermore, the system contributes to tackling with environmental problems such as reducing green house gas emission. Model case in this feasibility study is 3-MW power generation and 3,600 t/d water production.
