June 19-22, 2006 Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) visited Japan
Eng. Asa’ad Ahmad E. Al-Saad, Deputy Managing Director of KNPC, accompanied by three other members visited Japan to study taking up the OTEC and seawater desalination technology.
June 19, 2006 KNPC Delegation visited Saga Prefectural Government Office to pay a courtesy call on Mr. Yoshiyuki Kawakami, Governor of Saga Prefecture.
June 20, 2006 Visited Institute of Ocean Energy, Saga University
Eng. Asa'ad Ahmad E. Al-Saad expressed that they were studying a project which uses the OTEC technology to generate electricity and desalinate seawater afterwards, utilizing waste heat discharged from refineries.
He said, "This technology is environment-friendly, so we expect to be able to use the technology in Kuwait."
KNPC Delegation visited IOES to observe the OTEC facilities.
June 21, 2006 Visited Sodegaura Refinery of Fuji Oil Co., Ltd.
KNPC Delegation observed power generating facility (4,000kW) utilizing low-temperatured waste heat (at 120℃ or below) from refineries as its power source, which started demonstration operations in August 2005.
This power generating facility, the design of which the OTEC technology of Xenesys Inc.is used for, is the largest one in the world.
KNPC Delegation was receiving explanation.
June 22, 2006 paid a courtesy call on H.E. Toshihiro Nikai, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan
