The purpose of the visit is to study those technologies of Institute of Ocean Energy, Saga University (IOES). Eng. Asa'ad Ahmad E. Al-Saad said, "The plants are environment-friendly, so I expect we could use them." In response, Mr. Yoshiyuki Kawakami said, "I expect further technological corporation between two countries."
After visiting to IOES and going to Tokyo on June 20, Eng. Asa'ad Ahmad E. Al-Saad is to visit to the Sodegaura Refinery in Chiba on June 21 and make a courtesy call on H.E. Toshihiro Nikai, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, etc. on June 22.
OTEC is the system to generate electricity, where ammonia-water mixture vaporized by warm surface seawater drives the turbine and generates electricity, and then the vapor is condensed by cold deep seawater and recycled. As there are problem of disposal of waste warm water and exhaust gas from industries and serious water shortage in Kuwait, KNPC has a strong interest in clean energy that drives desalination plants.
