Eng. Asa'ad Ahmad E. Al-Saad, Deputy Managing Director of KNPC (Kuwait National Petroleum Company), with three other members visited to Saga Prefecture to study the Institute of Ocean Energy, Saga University (IOES, Imari-shi) and paid a courtesy call on the Saga Prefectural Government on June 19.
Eng. Asa'ad Ahmad E. Al-Saad focuses on Dischaged Thermal Energy Conversion (DTEC) and the seawater desalination technology, which apply the OTEC technology of IOES, as there is a problem of disposal of waste warm water discharged from refineries in Kuwait. Mr. Satomi Kiminao, President of Xenesys Inc. (head office: Akashi-shi, Hyogo Prefecture), was with the delegation.
Mr. Satomi Kiminao also aims the practical application of the technology.
Eng. Asa'ad Ahmad Al-Saad said, "Thermal energy conversion technology is environment-friendly, so we expect we could use the technology", expressing his expectation. In response, Mr. Yoshiyuki Kawakami, Vice-Governor, Saga Prefectural Government, said,"I think the technology is attractive to Middle Eastern countries. I hope we can promote further cooperation with this technology and this opportunity in the future."
KNPC delegation is to visit to IOES on June 20 and a refinery in Chiba Prefecture before leaving Japan on June 23.
