Environmental venture company Xenesys Inc. has begun operation of "OTEC R&D Center and Xenesys Imari Plant" in Nanatsujima Industrial complex of Imari-shi, Saga Prefecture, Japan.
The company has been jointly conducted R&D of OTEC technology with Saga University.
Xenesys aims at developing and spreading of their eco-technologies to Middle Eastern countries, where have been suffering from disposal of warm discharged water from refineries.
This steel construction (2nd floor is partial) integrates R&D center with manufacturing plant, and its gross floor area is approx. 2,700 m2. At the beginning, they start the operation with 19 staff members, and eventually, they will increase the number of the employees up to 40.
In April 2007, Xenesys signed a Memorandum of Understanding with KNPC (Kuwait National Petroleum Company) concerning introduction of a complex plant, which simultaneously produces electricity and desalinates seawater by utilizing waste heat in warm discharged water from the refinery. Xenesys expects a conclusion of an official contract within this year. Xenesys staff in charge said "We will take this opportunity for new and further track records."
